Audemars Piquet Royal Oak 25829SP

AUDEMARS PIGUET. AN EXTREMELY RARE PLATINUM AND STAINLESS STEEL LIMITED EDITION AUTOMATIC SKELETONED PERPETUAL CALENDAR WRISTWATCH WITH LEAP YEAR INDICATOR, MOON PHASES AND BRACELET, CREATED TO CELEBRATE THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF ROYAL OAK.

ROYAL OAK 25829SP PERPETUAL OPENWORKED – THE LAST WATCH OF THE EDITION – NO. 17 OF 25 PIECES

Considered one of Audemars Piguet's masterpieces, the steel and platinum openwork Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Moon Phase reference 25829SP was produced in only 25 pieces in 1997 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Royal Oak collection.

As the final piece of this exclusive limited edition, No. 25⁄25, this Royal Oak is an example of the rare and limited editions from the great watch houses that form the core of the Ultimate Collection. Furthermore, this timepiece is offered with a complete set of all original accessories and the Audemars Piguet Certificate of Authenticity.

This small series of 25 steel and platinum watches is interesting because it is made in 'bi-metal' but with a 'mono-color' aesthetic. The bezel and the middle links are polished platinum, while the rest of the case and links are brushed steel. Although it is a mono-color watch, the combination of steel and platinum gives the watch a certain look and a rich feel that is very subtle, but without a doubt gives a distinctive overall presence and glamour to the timepiece.

With only 25 examples in circulation, the Royal Oak 25829SP Perpetual Openworked is very rarely auctioned. This watch is a remarkable and all too rare opportunity to own this intricate and very impressive timepiece.

Royal Oak Perpetual Openworked Reference 25829SP limited to 25 pieces
Essentially the openworked version of reference 25820, reference 25829 was produced in the same period and made in 371 pieces in steel, 102 pieces in yellow gold, 174 in rose gold, 156 in platinum, 25 in steel and platinum (the current watch) plus another made in 2006, 15 pieces in tantalum and yellow gold, 16 in tantalum and platinum, and 16 in tantalum and rose gold.

First introduced in 1982, the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar combines two of the great icons of Audemars Piguet’s heritage, the Royal Oak model and the perpetual calendar complication. The skeletonized or openworked version was introduced in the 1990s to reveal the incredible finishing of the timepiece through both the sapphire crystal caseback and dial, bringing a stunning new aesthetic to the Royal Oak model. Powering the movement is the ionic automatic caliber 2120⁄2802 with leap year indication, featuring the date, day and month and a moon phase with a 29 1⁄2 day lunar calendar. The transparent crystal dial with gray daughters completes this visually stunning and ultra-rare Royal Oak in steel and platinum.
