Rolex Submariner: The world's first waterproof diving watch
The Rolex Submariner, also known as the Oyster Perpetual Submariner, is a true classic from the iconic Rolex brand. Now some 70 years since its introduction in 1953, the Submariner remains one of the most sought-after and respected watches in the world. Designed for the most demanding underwater conditions, this watch has earned its reputation for its reliability, durability and timeless design.
The Rolex Submariner was the first diver's wristwatch that was waterproof to a depth of 100 meters. Today that is even 300 meters. Key features such as the rotating graduated bezel, the luminous display and the wide hands and hour markers played a crucial role in creating the long line of Rolex dive watches that followed. The Submariner can rightly be called a true classic.

The story behind the Rolex Submariner
The Rolex Submariner was first released in 1953 and was the first diving watch at the time to be water resistant to 100 meters. Designed for functionality and reliability, the Submariner quickly became an essential tool for professional divers.
The original model, reference 6204, is known as the 'Small Crown' due to its small crown, unlike the later 'Big Crown' (reference 6200) which had a larger crown to improve water resistance to 200 metres. These early Submariners were equipped with a stretch strap, allowing divers to wear the watch over their diving suit.
After the first series of Submariners, Rolex introduced a new generation of Submariners in the late 50s to early 60s, now with crown guards and a larger 40 mm case. In the late 60s, the well-known gilt dial was replaced by a matte dial and the first Submariner Date was released. From 1969 it was also possible to purchase a Rolex Submariner with a gold case, which made the watch even more prestigious and therefore popular.
Diversity of options with the Rolex Submariner
The Submariner is still one of the most popular Rolex models worldwide. And there are his reasons for that. The model is available in a large number of designs and colors, so there is a suitable variant for every taste and style. Whether you opt for the classic combination of a black dial and bezel, or make a bolder statement with a blue or green version, the Submariner offers a versatility that few other watches can match..
Due to its many innovations, the Submariner has been a watch that has been progressive in both technology and design for years.
